Cindy Sherman-women in society

Cindy Sherman is an artist that is well known for her transformations in order to capture different women in society. Her style can be identified due the stereotypical image of women driven to the extreme. The over dressed outfits and faces that are painted rather that wearing make-up have the purpose to ridicule the women that are putting too much effort so they would look attractive and desirable.

The photo above suggest that the “transformation” women go through every morning in front of the mirrors make them look like clowns, which are subjects of comedy. Glossy magazines, fashion and make-up industries have created brands at the expense of human imperfections. The distorted image of female beauty, which is constantly haunting girls from an early age, has caused an unhealthy habit of turning their natural look into a commercial product. However, there are still women that try to stop this tendency before it gets to the extremes.
